More Discussion about Bad Hair Extensions

Not All Hair Extensions Are Created Equal – Part 2

After the disaster with my pinch braids, I decided to visit an African American salon in Hollywood who offered hair weaves. This was new to me but as the stylist explained the process; it seemed less invasive compared to the pinch braids.

She proceeded to braid the back of my own hair from ear to ear down the nape of my neck in a tight French braid in an S-Shape. After this was done, she took 3 wefts of blonde hair and starting sewing them into the braids. This was a little less painful and looked a little more natural although my own hair was so thin the difference in texture was apparent.

Weave Sew In Extensions

This process took only 2 hours and cost $600. However, within just one month it was so loose every month I would have to come back in and have it re-braided and re-sewn in at $300/month.

I continued this process for 3 months because when I didn’t have the hair extensions in, I felt I couldn’t compete with the other lusciously locked blonde girls I was competing with at modeling casting calls.
